Classes of Members – There shall be three classes of members, namely: regular, associate and honorary, company and out-of-town. Former Presidents of the National Press Club shall also be lifetime members subject to the payment of the usual dues and their accounts required of a regular member.

Regular Member – A JOURNALIST is eligible as a regular member of the association. By JOURNALIST is meant a publisher, regular member of the editorial staff or a correspondent of a well-established newspaper or magazine of general  circulation which shall have been publishing continuously for at least one year prior to the filing of his application for membership, a staff member or a correspondent of a similarly well-established news agency, or a regular staff member of the news department of a well-established radio and/or television network directly involved in the gathering and/or writing of the news. Said network must have a daily news broadcast and must have been in operation for at least one year. News readers on a talent basis, since they are not involved in the day-to-day news gathering activities of said networks, do not belong to the aforesaid category.


A JOURNALIST who has retired from the newspaper profession after 25 years, shall be a regular member. (As amended on March 8, 1970)

Associate Member – A former JOURNALIST, a former regular member of the National Press Club or any person working in professions allied to the newspaper medium is eligible as associate member. He may participate in the deliberation of the Club in matters required by the corporation law for them to participate.

Honorary Member – A person who has rendered outstanding contributions to the promotion of the Philippine press may be elected as honorary member.

Company Member – Publishing houses, advertising and public relations agencies and allied establishments shall be qualified to enter as company members under rules and regulations that the Board of Directors shall prescribe. A company member may designate its representative or representatives to enjoy all rights of a member, except the right to vote and participate in club deliberations.

Out-Of-Town – An out-of-town member is a journalist whose newspaper, magazine or publication is published or circularized outside the metropolitan area, who shall pay membership dues of One Peso (P1.00) a month and who shall have the privileges of a regular member except the right to vote. (New Provision as of March 8, 1970)

ADMISSION

Any person, qualified in accordance with Section 2 & 3 of this article may apply for membership in the National Press Club of the Philippines. Applications for regular and associate membership shall be made in writing on a form provided for the purpose, and shall be accomplished with a certification and a recommendation from the publisher of the newspaper or magazine or a president of the radio or television network, that the applicant is a regular member of the editorial staff and that he is recommended for membership in the NPC. All applicants for membership shall be screened by the committee for membership which shall submit its recommendation to the Board of Directors for approval. (As amended on March 8, 1970)

 

How to be a member:

1. Present to NPC,  certification or recommendation from the
          a. PUBLISHER of the newspaper or magazine
          b. PRESIDENT of the radio or television network

2. Fill out Membership Form

3. Wait for screening by the Committee for Membership and Board of Directors’ Approval
